My 2 oldest daughters made it to the GA State Swim Championships on Friday July 24th, 2009. We arrived at 6:30 am for prelims. They swam prelims in the late morning which the top 8 girls moved on to finals that afternoon. My 2 daughters each qualified for finals and this picture above is them standing in front of the pool in between sessions.
At Finals they had an Opening Ceremonies much like a mini Olympics. Swimmers that qualified from each team paraded around the pool (with Olympic Music playing). My girls were 2 out of the 3 swimmers for our Cumming Waves Team! There was 1100+ swimmers entered into the meet with 30+ teams represented from Georgia. 32+ Swimmers for each event and top 8 moved on to the finals.
My oldest daughter competed in the girls 10 and under 25 yard Butterfly and Backstroke. She moved onto finals in both events taking 4th overall in Butterfly and 7th in Backstroke.
Her sister competed in the girls 8 and under 25 yard Backstroke and Breaststroke. She went to finals in the Backstroke finishing 7th overall and she finished 18th in the Breaststroke.
These races our of the finals and you can see how close the races get.
They received their awards and my oldest daughter was just shy of getting up on the blocks.
We had a long day…we left at 4:45am and didn’t get home until 9pm. Hopefully soon I will get the video posted. We are very proud of our Swimmers! Go Cumming Waves Go!
